Contact Sheltons Construction – Oregon

A real person reads what you send, usually the same or next business day, and looks at any photos first. Straightforward jobs get a reply or a couple of questions; anything that needs eyes on it — most drain, sewer, and repipe work — gets a time to come look. If water is actively running where it shouldn't, call instead of writing in.

We reply during business hours. For emergencies, call.

Serving: Portland Metro, Oregon

If you send us a message, expect a real person to read it and reply — not an autoresponder loop. We look at every job the same way: what's actually going on, what it'll take to fix it right, and whether we're the right crew for it before we ever quote a number.

What happens after you write in?

We read your message, and if you sent photos, we look at those first — a picture of a rusted-out shutoff valve or water staining on a ceiling tells us more than three paragraphs of description. If it's a straightforward job — a water heater quote, a slow drain, a fixture swap — we'll usually reply with next steps or a couple of questions. If it sounds like it needs eyes on it, we'll set up a time to come take a look.

A lot of Portland-metro housing works against guessing over email. Close-in neighborhoods still have plenty of original galvanized supply lines and cast iron drain lines from before mid-century; newer builds out toward Hillsboro, Wilsonville, or Happy Valley have their own issues with PEX manifolds and tankless setups. Two houses on the same block can need completely different fixes.

How fast will I hear back?

Same or next business day for most messages sent through the site. Write in Friday evening and don't expect an answer until Monday — we're on jobs, not answering email at night.

When should I call instead of writing in?

Call if:

  • Water is actively coming out where it shouldn't — a burst line, a supply line off a water heater, a toilet that won't stop
  • A drain or sewer backup is putting water back into the house
  • You've got no hot water and it's an actual household emergency, not just an inconvenience
  • We're in one of the rare hard freezes the Portland area gets and a pipe has split

Writing in works fine for quotes, planning a remodel or repipe, landlord accounts, builder rough-in scheduling, or anything that isn't happening right now. Landlords and property managers coordinating a tenant visit — say so up front and we'll work around a schedule instead of showing up cold.

Do you need photos before you contact us?

Photos help, especially for leaks, water heaters, and anything under a sink or in a crawlspace — wide shot and close-up both. Exact pipe sizes or brand names are a bonus, not required. We'd rather see the actual fitting than guess from a description.

Do you work outside Portland proper?

Yes — Beaverton, Hillsboro, Gresham, Tigard, Tualatin, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Oregon City, Milwaukie, Happy Valley, Clackamas, Wilsonville, Troutdale, Sherwood, and down I-5 to Salem for larger or scheduled work. Say which city you're in when you write so we can plan the visit.

Questions people ask

Is this the same company as SWAT Plumbing?+

Same family, different license. Sheltons Construction is the Oregon plumbing company working the Portland metro. SWAT Plumbing is the Washington side, across the river in Clark County. Mention which side of the river you're on and we'll point you the right way if needed.

Do you answer messages on weekends?+

Messages sent over the weekend get a reply the next business day. If it can't wait until then, call instead.

Can I get a quote without a visit?+

For some jobs, yes — a water heater swap or a clear photo of a fixture is often enough for a starting number. Drain, sewer, and repipe work almost always needs someone to see it first.

I'm a landlord managing several properties — can you set up an account?+

Yes, write in with how many units and the general area and we'll set up how invoicing and tenant coordination should work.

What if I'm not sure it's actually an emergency?+

If water is moving somewhere it shouldn't be right now, treat it as one and call. If it's a slow drain or a fixture that's just annoying, writing in is fine.
